Minocqua Area Fishing Report: At least all the wind has kept the mosquitos at bay. Wind has been the biggest hindrance to fishing for most species. Where possible and with proper boat control some of the best walleye fishing of the season came last week, but the wind made it work! Walleye: Excellent to Good. Action slowed some after the full moon....

Happy Fathers Day to all you fishing dads out there.  Lake Geneva fishing remains really good.  The summer boat traffic has started however, so plan to be off the lake by about 10:30 a.m. to avoid the waves and chaos, especially on weekends.  I had a 8 hour guide trip planned for Saturday and the boat traffic drove us in after about ...

BY BILL THORNLEY SPOONER– It poured on Saturday, June 7, the day scheduled for the Chuck Revak Memorial Kids Fishing Day in Spooner. There would be no canoe rides, or even fishing as the dark skies offered a blustery mix of driving rain, thunder and lightning. Even a family of Canada geese huddled together on the shores of the Yellow River F...

Despite cooler temps this week, we seem to be in an early summer mode. Water temps have settled into the mid 60's range. Enough warmth seems to be working its way down to help push some bug hatches as a couple species of dragon flies, some types of midge and what looks like march brown mayflies have hatched. The thing to keep an eye out for is the ...

Outstanding fishing right now in central Wisconsin for all species.  The muskies are very active and we are seeing some very nice fish coming from shallow weedy areas.  Walleyes continue to be a pleasant catch and along with numbers, we are seeing some nice sized fish as well.  The crappies and bluegill bite is about as ...

By Mike Yurk The sky seemed to touch the water of Chequamegon Bay while a steady light rain dimpled the surface. Doug Hurd of Eagan, Minn., and I were drifting along a swampy shoreline flipping jerk baits into the shallow water. Doug’s boat was sitting in about four feet of water but we were casting to less than a foot. We caught our fir...

This past week started fast and was excellent but by the end of the week, we had another lake fly hatch that slowed the bite immensely.  That should dissipate by the early part of next week and then it will be back to good fishing. Walleye fishing has started to pick up.  Night anglers and even day time fishermen have been catching multi...

Steve Suman This week’s temperatures looks to be more seasonal, with highs in the upper 70s and nighttime lows in the 40s and 50s ... and of course, the ever-present (but mostly low!) chances for rain and thunderstorms. “Inconsistent weather is always tough on fishing success,” says Pat at Happy Hooker, “and we had some la...

Lake Geneva fishing has been really good overall.  It’s a great time to take young kids fishing as the rock bass bite is almost constant.  Both the largemouth and smallmouth bass are active as well.  With the cooler than normal water temperatures, the pleasure boat traffic is still relatively light as well. Walleye fishing rem...
