Dick Ellis Blog:

No walleyes found on Winny We returned to Winnebago this week with visions of repeating the hot weather performance of 2013 when we murdered the July walleyes drifting and throwing crankbaits.  Jim Olsson, Dave Gromowski and I found the hot weather, but that’s about it.  If I lied and said we were targeting catfish, well then we had a really good day.  But I don’t, and we didn’t, and the cat is officially out of ...

Welcome to On Wisconsin Outdoors

NOTE on Featured Video:

On Wisconsin Outdoors

1) Picture is of me applying Bacon Gel from "Bear Scents LLC" to a small maple tree last year,  2014.

2) First video is of the big bear "Bacon" the very next morning rubbing himself on the same tree that I applied the bacon gel on. He eventually pushed over that tree completely to the ground. Compare the size. I am 250 pounds and 6 feet.  He is a monster of a bear.

3) Second video is Bacon the bear, this year 2015.  He is well over 400 pounds and is expected to weight more than 500 pounds by this September.

On Wisconsin Outdoors (OWO) was founded in August of 2007, by owner and publisher Dick Ellis, to inform and entertain those who love the great outdoors. As a professional journalist, who also happens to hunt and fish, Ellis wrote a syndicated outdoor column for twenty years that appeared in newspapers across Wisconsin. During that period, by actually reporting from the field, he forged great relationships with many of the state’s most talented hunting and fishing guides and professional outdoor journalists.

These writers and guides, now affectionately known as the “Ellis Experts”, appear in every issue of OWO to bring timely information about what’s “hot”, where, and how to improve your chances for success in the field.

Six issues of OWO are published annually. Each issue highlights two full months of the very best that Wisconsin has to offer. Since its inaugural issue six years ago, OWO has reached well over 5 million readers.  Now supplemented by this website launched in 2012 that number continues to grow.

Whether you’re a hunter or angler looking for the latest tip or a company looking for the absolute best value in print media advertising, you’ve been looking for…On Wisconsin Outdoors.
