Welcome to On Wisconsin Outdoors
NOTE on Featured Video:
On the eve of the Wisconsin bear season, the monster nicknamed “Ghost” returns to regularly visit a secluded Northern Wisconsin Outfitters bait station. According to lead guide and OWO columnist Mike Foss, the bear is more than 500 pounds and eluded several hunters during the 2014 season. “He comes out and looks at the stand we have set at 70 yards for a rifle hunter,” Foss said. “Only time will tell.”
On Wisconsin Outdoors (OWO) was founded in August of 2007, by owner and publisher Dick Ellis, to inform and entertain those who love the great outdoors. As a professional journalist, who also happens to hunt and fish, Ellis wrote a syndicated outdoor column for twenty years that appeared in newspapers across Wisconsin. During that period, by actually reporting from the field, he forged great relationships with many of the state’s most talented hunting and fishing guides and professional outdoor journalists.
These writers and guides, now affectionately known as the “Ellis Experts”, appear in every issue of OWO to bring timely information about what’s “hot”, where, and how to improve your chances for success in the field.
Six issues of OWO are published annually. Each issue highlights two full months of the very best that Wisconsin has to offer. Since its inaugural issue six years ago, OWO has reached well over 5 million readers. Now supplemented by this website launched in 2012 that number continues to grow.
