11/9/15- Reported by AAA Sports  The fall fishing has been spotty. Of course, there are not as many anglers out there, as many of them take to the woods this time of year. Muskie fishing is going well. This week looks pretty good for weather, so we suspect we will have a few guys headed out during the day. We'll keep you posted!

~ Fishing guides Roger LaPenter and Luke Kavajecz from Anglers All, 715/682-5754, report the following: This report is about the Ashland side of Chequamegon Bay.  Fishing has been good this past week with brown trout and coho salmon being caught in the bay here.  They’ve also been found in the Sioux River and out by the flats,...

Getting Aggressive at First Ice The first ice period can produce some of the best ice fishing opportunities of the entire season.  Some of the biggest fish of the season, and some of the greatest numbers show up at this time.  I believe that there are a couple of different reasons for this activity.  One being that these fish are at...

http://dnr.wi.gov/news/releases/article/?id=3769       MADISON, Wis. -- An expanded early trout season that opens Jan. 2 will give Wisconsin anglers one more reason to love winter.   While ice fishing will still rule the day on most inland waters, rivers and streams with strong groundwater flows should be...

RHINELANDER, Wis. - Trappers who incidentally capture bobcats in 12 northern counties are encouraged to contact Department of Natural Resources staff and participate in a bobcat research project.  The bobcat monitoring project began in early 2014 and seeks to better understand populations and habitat preferences of Wisconsin bobcat. "Trappers...

November 2, 2015 Hayward Lakes Area Outdoor Report Steve Suman While the forecast mentions chances of rain (and snow) throughout the week, this IS November in the North Woods so it is hard to complain about highs in the 60s (at least through mid-week)! Many hunting seasons are now underway, but fall also offers excellent fishing for anglers who ...

Cool and wet! While the threat of an early snow was on last week’s forecast, few people saw the little snow we did get as it melted before dawn. Water temps have dropped this past week, low surface temps at 45 degrees to as high as 52 degrees. Could actually climb a little as forecast for low 60’s scheduled for Mon thru Wed. of this wee...

The late-season warm weather the northland experienced this year provided for some noteworthy stream fishing, according to guide Luke Kavajecz with Anglers All in Ashland. This happy angler displays a real beauty he caught on a recent fishing trip with Luke.   (Photo courtesy of Luke Kavajecz)   ~ Fishing guides Roger LaPen...

What an outstanding week it has been. Big muskies, lots of walleyes and a few nice bucks. All taken right here in central Wisconsin. This past week we have soon an abundance of walleyes on our trips. Most of the fish have been in the 14 to 16 inch range but we have picked up a few nice fish in the mid to upper 20’s.  The best action is ...

By Wayne Morgenthaler The fall is a great time to take a trip to northern Wisconsin around the Hayward area.  Most small lakes and rivers do not get much fishing action.  Knowing what baits to use and what areas to target is key to being successful. I generally won’t head north until they have a good hard frost and most of the lea...

Attention Winnebago System Sturgeon Spearers: The deadline for purchasing sturgeon spearing licenses for the 2016 season is rapidly approaching on October 31, 2015.  You only have a few more days to purchase your license (Lake Winnebago and/or Upriver Lakes) if you have not already done so.  The harvest caps will be increasing...

Despite some cold nights (temps dipping into frost time) daily average temperatures have been a few degrees above normal, leaving the lakes cool downs in a holding pattern. Almost daily changes in the wind direction, more so temperature change, have been the deciding factor in angler’s success. The consistent water temps have actually helped ...

Steve Suman The North Woods enjoyed a very nice, long fall, and even with this week’s forecast including rain and “other” forms of precipitation, conditions are still relatively comfortable for this time of year. Regardless of the weather, one bright spot to end this week is an extra hour of sleep – IF you remember to turn...

Cold nights with lows in the lower 30 degree range and some highs barely breaking 40 degrees last week pushed surface temps down. Some smaller shallower lakes saw surface water hit 47 degrees while mid – sized lakes 1,000 acre Big Arb for example) read 51-52 degrees and the largest lakes still about 54-55 degrees. MINNETONKA, Minn. (July 14, 2015) — Few can improve on perfection like MarCum®, but the brand has done it again this year with new flasher-sonar displays that prevents snow buildup and increases viewing angles, allowing easy sight lines from all sides on its traditional flashers. “MarCum’s legendary performance ha...

By John Luthens It was time for me and Tom to go to confession in the cathedral of October. I needed to reflect on the wanton neglect of my civil duties that had festered like weeds from a trout fishing addiction. I needed to beg forgiveness for the awful state of my torn waders and fly lines, and I needed an exorcism to absolve the smell of a sum...
