Ashland Chamber of Commerce Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter from Anglers All, (715)-682-5754, http://www.anglersallwisconsin. Reports: The Big Lake has great fishing right now. Bass are biting and starting to make beds and the trolling has been bringing in Trout and Salmon for the Anglers on the outside of the Bay. Most fishing is being done at Sand...

Recent rains have water levels very high and dirty causing a lot of the river related fish to relocate to backwater areas. Walleyes have been very active in 4 to 8 feet of water following the recent rains. Jig and minnow combinations in non current areas has been the ticket this past week.  Bass action has been very good on the main lake areas...

By, Dave Hraychuck The last week or so rain suits have been as important as bait, rods, and reels! Cool weather and lots of rain have made fishing difficult here in northwestern Wisconsin but not impossible.  On the days when the sun does come out, look out! Walleyes are off the new weed edges. Jigs and leeches or slip bobbers and leeches see...

Wind, Rain, Cold – Nothing is Stopping the Fish Hi Folks – Even with all the weird weather, the fishing continues to thump.  With the exception of a couple of days last week, walleyes continue to provide anglers with good action.  The past three days we boated 150 walleyes despite thunderstorms and then frost the other mornin...

By: Steve Suman Our non-typical spring has offered a few (very infrequent) warm, humid days – and the forecast for this week simply shows more of the mild/moist/cool weather. All we can do is make the best of it – it certainly appears the biting bugs are doing just that! “With the continuing cool spring weather, we are still at ...

I thought we were in the clear, but Mother Nature has her own ideas. Wind switches and cold temps have confused fish and fishermen alike. It’s been tough getting a handle on the bites as things seem to be in a constant state of change here in the Northwoods. Pike: Good to Very good. This species seems to not mind the cooler than usual temps ...

The crappies right now are all the rage. They are in the shallows and biting. Find the cover the crappies like to spawn in and you will have fun catching right now. Throwing bobbers rigged with a small jig head and crappie minnow are sure to entice just about any spawner into biting. If you prefer the plastics, they are biting on those as well. F...

Panfishing continues to be great in the shallows, both Crappie and Bluegill are shallow and hitting well. Walleye fishing is still ok, with a lot of 10 to 14 inch fish being caught, some are still shallow and some are sliding back into 10 to 15 feet water, minnows seem to be the choice bait yet but the leech bite is getting better fast. ...

As long as the weather keeps warming, the fishing keeps improving daily.  This past week we had significant SW winds which made most of the lake unfishable. I’ve been catching most of my fish from the Abbey Springs area to the Military Academy. Rock bass are in the shallows in 10-15 ft of water.  The best approach is a split shot r...

Fishing remains above average overall.  Most of the fish remain in the shallow waters, under 10 ft for the most part.  The best bite on the lake is Bluegills and Largemouth bass. Crappie fishing has been above average by Belvidere Park or by Brown Channel.  The best depth has been 7-10 ft of water on the weedline.  You want to ...

By Wayne Morgenthaler The backwaters of the Wisconsin River near Lone Rock are producing some nice bluegills. Fishing was great with the fly rod and a tantalizing rubber spider.   The northern pike action is picking up and a great time to find some nice size ones. I like spinners with buck tails in colors of orange or green. Trout acti...

Good walleye bite on the Wisconsin River right now with anglers picking up nice fish in 8 to 12 feet of water associated with current breaks and downed timber. I run Rick Jaroch's weedless Rickee lead head jigs tipped with fathead minnows right on the bottom, and right in the wood for the best action. Nap Pozulp from Chicago with a n...

Dear Winnebago Sturgeon Enthusiasts: Our busy spring field season has wound down and my staff and I have now had a chance to catch our breath and process some of the data we collected this spring.  As a result, I have drafted a synopsis outlining the results of our sturgeon spawning assessments.  In a nutshell: the spawning run was very ...

Had to be on a Holiday Weekend when fishing shut down around here! After a few weeks of excellent walleye, very good pike, crappie fishing, east by southeast winds moved in bringing cold and dropping water temperatures by 6 to 8 degrees on average and pretty much shutting down most of our hot action. Musky: Good. The one bright spot. Reports of go...
