Price County Fishing Report 6-24-13
It's the end of June and the Mayflies are hatching, This hasn't shut down fishing but it does make it a harder bite because the Panfish, Walleye and Bass are gorging themselves on the easy meal. We have been finding Walleye in 8 to 12 feet of water, A piece of Night Crawler on a floating lindy rig has been a good bet, Walleye are also being taken on a jig and leech or a leech under a slip bobber.
Panfish are scattered, most of the Crappie have moved off the shoreline, Some fishermen are finding them in 6 to 8 feet of water but some have returned to the Cribs in 12 to 18 feet of water. As the water warms look for the Crappie to suspend out in the main lake basin areas. Bluegill are scattered as well, Some are still shallow in the spawning areas and some have pulled off and are in wood in 6 to 10 feet of water.
The Bass action has been steady, Largemouth have been taken on frogs in the weeds, we are also finding Largemouth around docks on tubes and sinking worms.
Despite the high water levels in the rivers fishermen are reporting nice catches of Cats, A gob of night crawlers seems to be the bait of choice for Cats right now, with a few fish being taken on Cut Bait.
