Black, minority Trump supporters censored by Gannett, other media at 2020 RNC Convention. Expect the same as Milwaukee hosts 2024 RNC Convention. Look back four years Wisconsin, to compare and contrast Gannett’s corrupt coverage of the 2020 Republican and Democratic National Conventions to know what to expect July 15-18 when the nation’s eyes rest on Milwaukee, home of the 2024 RNC convention.  The DNC will showcase its conventi...

Lots of snow is making for tough conditions as ice anglers head out.  With that said the ice fishing has been very good. We had a great week catching some very nice crappies, bluegills, pike and walleyes.  The ice conditions are very good with most areas showing 16 or more inches of good ice.  Don’t let that completely fool you...

Not surprisingly, this week's headline has been the cold weather. In all likelihood you noted some very active feeders, fluffed up birds huddled out of the wind and in the sun, and probably at least a few birds with ice-dappled feathers. No doubt it was a trying time for some species, including at least a few reports of compromised or dead birds. ...

The 2019 sturgeon spear fishery is just 3 days away and anticipation has certainly been building!  The DNR hasn’t had a chance to check water clarity yet this season due to the variable weather that we have had, but we do have two of our staff members out checking clarity today.  I hope to get a report out later tonight or first thi...

Today marked the 3rd day of the 2019 sturgeon spearing season on the Winnebago System, a day where 42 fish were registered. Things have really slowed down on the Upriver Lakes as only 19 fish were registered today bringing the season total to 201.  Of the 19 fish harvested today, 6 were adult females.  We are currently 25 adult femal...

Fishing in the Lakeland area got a little tougher after a week of snow and cold.  Snow could have been worse, luckily it was light enough to blow off the lakes to some extent.  The frozen crust from the earlier ice storm did protect some, but overall on the lakes it’s not bad.   The cold (29 below 2/9) kept more anglers off t...

March 9, 2015 Steve Suman It is truly amazing how quickly, and significantly, weather conditions can change! Well it looks like we are off to an early start on winter. What a crazy year. We went from winter to summer, then right back to winter.
