By John Luthens There are tales of extreme fishermen who cut a ballistic swath through a body of water, wading and trolling, and leaving rippling wakes of caught fish behind.  Their fishing logs display such eye-popping scores of hook-ups, that a master accountant would be hard pressed to juggle the numbers into the realm of believability. H...

No need for Grandma to meet us half-way. No need to bother my wife with hectic packi...

Day 8 and Day 9 Results — July 28-29, 2012 A breezy weekend made for a bumpy ride at times. There was a strong north current, swells and chop Saturday and a switch to the same from the south Sunday. That made finding the right speed challenging, but those who figured it out scored some nice catches. Some stuck in the 90- to 120-foot depths, ...

Day 7 Results — Friday, July 27, 2012 A rough day wave-wise Friday kept fishing pressure down in many areas, and it showed in the weigh-ins. With fewer fishermen on the water, there were just three changes in the top 30. The day’s largest “king” went 19.6 pounds. Fish registration ends at 5 p.m. Sunday. Anglers can still g...

By Bill Schultz During the past 16 years, I’ve spent over 160 days chasing smallmouth bass in Door County.  I’ve been rewarded with catching and releasing almost 5,000. Like many who fish Door County smallies or lake smallies in general, I’ve used many lures, but have also tried to keep it simple.  I believe I’ve...
