Kewaunee/Door County Salmon Tournament

Day 4 Results — Tuesday, July 24, 2012

No 20-pounders were brought to the scales on Tuesday, Day 4 of the K/D Salmon Tournament, but there were four 19-pound-plus specimens. Deb Samuelson’s 19.63-pounder at Algoma was big enough to move into 12th spot.

A small craft advisory was in the forecast for Wednesday. After that, outside of an occasional chance at a thunderstorm, winds are supposed to lighten up for the final four days of the event.

The ticket-holding angler who lands the heaviest chinook of the 9-day event will win $10,000 cash, a free mount of the fish by Scott Mansur’s Northland Taxidermy of Algoma and a custom sterling silver chinook salmon ring with a diamond eye by Paul Spanbauer of wisconsincharm.com. Second place is $2,000 cash and a pair of Cannon electric downriggers, and third place is $1,000 cash and a pair of copper wire setups from Howie’s Tackle.Other major sponsors of the 30th annual K/D Salmon Tournament include Bay Lake Bank, Big Lake Lures, Big Lake Tackle (makers of Dragon Fly) Big Weenie Trolling Flies, Brad’s Cut Plugs, Costa Sunglasses, Flanigan Distributing, Luhr Jensen, Moonshine Lures, Plano Tackle and P-Line.

Daily ($13) and full tournament ($25) tickets are available at Lakeshore Lighthouse and the Kewaunee Marina in Kewaunee; Algoma BP; Howie’s Tackle, Hol-N-One Mobil and the GreyStone Castle in Sturgeon Bay; 57 Depot in Baileys Harbor; and Kap’s Marina on Washington Island. Limited 30th anniversary clothing is also available.
