Kewaunee/Door County Salmon Tournament Day 5 Results

Day 5 Results — Wednesday, July 25, 2012

Second straight day without a 20-pounder coming to certified scales, but Day 5 of the 30th annual K/D Salmon Tournament — a day marred by strong southeast winds that kept boaters on shore in many areas — did see a pair of Washington Island fish move into the top 20.

With more than $40,000 in cash and prizes on the line, and fish registration open now until Sunday at 5 p.m., there’s still plenty of time to get in on the action. First place is $10,000 cash, a free mount of the fish and a custom sterling silver chinook salmon ring with a diamond eye. Second place is $2,000 cash and a pair of Cannon electric downriggers, and third place is $1,000 cash and a pair of Howie’s Tackle copper wire setups.

As always, the tournament plans to pay down well past 100 spots, and daily prizes for the biggest fish at each of the five ports — Kewaunee, Algoma, Sturgeon Bay, Baileys Harbor and Washington Island — include more than $100 in tackle and cash.

Major sponsors of the 30th annual K/D Salmon Tournament include Bay Lake Bank, Big Lake Lures, Big Lake Tackle (makers of Dragon Fly) Big Weenie Trolling Flies, Brad’s Cut Plugs, Cannon downriggers, Costa Sunglasses, Flanigan Distributing, Howie’s Tackle, Luhr Jensen, Moonshine Lures, Northland Taxidermy of Algoma, Plano Tackle and P-Line.

Daily ($13) and full tournament ($25) tickets will be available today through Sunday at Lakeshore Lighthouse and the Kewaunee Marina in Kewaunee; Algoma BP; Howie’s Tackle, Hol-N-One Mobil and the GreyStone Castle in Sturgeon Bay; 57 Depot in Baileys Harbor; and Kap’s Marina on Washington Island. Limited edition 30th anniversary clothing is also available.
