Ashland Area Chamber of Commerce Fishing Report 9-5-2012

Fishing Guide Roger LaPenter from Anglers All, (715)-682-5754 reports: The Smallmouth Bass are biting all over the Bay. There are reports of Smallmouth biting at the Rock Pile and the Shore end of the Break Wall. (for location information call Anglers All Bait Shop at 715-682-5754). Anglers are finding Walleyes in the Bay, using stickbaits and walleye suckers. As expected the Salmon are starting to bite and fishing for them should be picking up in the next week or two.

Captain Jim Hudson, (715) 209-6431, http://www.fishchequamegonbay.com reports:  In the bay, Smallmouth are still in their main summer spots, but, I am seeing more and more fish moving into common areas that are summer and fall spots all in one. So, catching more fish in areas now and this trend should continue until we reach the true fall period out here. For the most part, we are using simple techniques to catch our fish. Jigs with Gulp! jigging grubs, jigs with suckers or night crawlers, jigs with Kalin 5" grubs, tube jigs, dive to series crankbaits, and drop shots. Also, we pull suckers on lindy rigs as well.

The Ashland Chamber of Commerce invites you to check out www.visitashland.com for Lodging, Shopping and Dining information.

Make sure to plan a fishing trip centered around the Annual Mural Fest on Saturday, September 8th from 10am to 2pm. on Historic Main Street. If you need information when you come into Ashland, just swing by the Ashland Chamber at 1716 West Lake Shore Drive and help yourself to the brochures in the outdoor brochure rack.
