HARTFORD CONSERVATION & GUN CLUB HOSTS 22nd ANNUAL “SHOOT FOR A CURE”

HARTFORD CONSERVATION & GUN CLUB
HOSTS 22nd ANNUAL “SHOOT FOR A CURE”
AUGUST 25-26 2012

2012 Shoot for a Cure Brochure

The Hartford Conservation and Gun Club’s 22nd  Annual Gene Johann Memorial “Shoot for a Cure” pledged trap shoot promises to be a weekend of celebration for everyone supporting pediatric cancer research.  The event began as a tribute to a club member who lost a two-year battle with colon cancer in 1990, and has developed into a remarkable weekend of sportsmanship, camaraderie and fun.  To date, the event has raised over $1 million for Women for MACC (Midwest Athletes Against Childhood Cancer).

The weekend includes two events: a corporate patron invitational on Saturday kicks off the weekend’s activities, with the Club hosting 5-person teams vying for first place.  On Sunday morning, individual pledged trap shooters aim high to raise dollars to fund research.  (While the cost to participate in the pledged shoot is nominal, participants are encouraged to raise pledges, either in flat dollar amounts, or per bird).  A club team challenge, firefighters challenge and Celebrity/Youth Trap Shoot event take place in the afternoon.  Throughout the day, raffles and a silent auction geared to all ages will be held.

Background:

Women for MACC, Inc. is a non-profit charitable organization made up of the mothers, siblings, relatives, and friends of children who battle cancer, and those whose lives were tragically cut short by this killer disease.  The road toward a cure is a long one, but since our founding in 1982, we have contributed over $4 Million to the MACC Fund for crucial pediatric cancer research.

All proceeds from Women for MACC, Inc. fundraising events will go the to the MACC Fund. The primary beneficiary of MACC Fund support is the Midwest Childrens Cancer Center, with research conducted in the MACC Fund Research Center of The Medical College of Wisconsin.
