Sandhi...

As a pheasant hunting guide with hunting clients, occasionally, I would discuss the history of pheasants in America and specifically Wisconsin. Most hunters didn’t know that the pheasant is a non-native bird but in 1882, it was successfully introduced in Oregon from Asia. In Wisconsin, the bird was first introduced in 1916 by Gustav Pabst in ...

My father took me squirrel hunting a few times, but until we could drive ourselves, my mother was the taker of squirrel hunters. During September of 1966, hunting buddy Mike Swan, my mom and I got up extra early to greet the opening minutes of the squirrel hunting season. The night before, I had played a junior varsity football game, and at 2:00pm...

Gary Greene’s Memories from an Old Hunter……..#43 I’ve made some mistakes in my lifetime, but hopefully, I have learned and not repeated the errors of my past. As a parent, certain accomplishments by your children stand out more than others.  At least for me, getting to participate with my sons, during a few of those accomplishments, made it much more rewarding. When my chocolate lab Hershey was about to deliver her first litter, I was living on a five acre mini-farm near Lake Lorraine about halfway between Delavan and Whitewater. The first pup was born about 1:00am and I attempted to stay up most of the night with her as she averaged about one pup an hour.  Some female dogs can be the wonderful mothe...
