Learn to Hunt Hunters

LTH waterfowl is open only to ages 10-15 , These hunters have not previously participated in a Learn to Hunt event for waterfowl.

No hunter education certification is required.

DNR waives the state license, stamp and application fees for Learn to Hunt hunters.

Participants are required to have a DNR Customer ID, I can create that for you at the store., I will need a Social Security number, birthdate and personel information that would be on a drivers license to create your DNR number.

HIP certification, Harvest Information Program, is required for all participants,. I can get that at time of creating a DNR number, If you have a DNR number, we still have to HIP certify you. To harvest a Canada goose, one must possess a Canada goose harvest permit for the zone he/she is hunting in. All other hunting regulations apply.

During the actual hunt a mentor shall be assigned to no more than one participant at a time. This one mentor to one participant ratio provides the highest level of instruction and greatest safety. Mentors cannot hunt or handle/carry the firearm used by the participant, unless the firearm jams and the participant requires help getting it in working condition or for other safety reasons.

For 10-11 year olds or those who have not completed hunter safety, they must be within arms reach of a mentor

Youth Waterfowl Hunt

All license and stamp requirements are waived for eligible youth duck hunters on these two days. Harvest Information Program (HIP) registration is required of all youth hunters and to harvest a Canada goose, the youth must possess a Canada goose harvest permit for the zone one is hunting in.

HIP certification, Harvest Information Program, is required for all participants,. I can get that at time of creating a DNR number, If you have a DNR number, we still have to HIP certify you. To harvest a Canada goose, one must possess a Canada goose harvest permit for the zone one is hunting in.

Only persons age 10-15 may hunt waterfowl (ducks, geese, coots, moorhens and mergansers). All hunters must be accompanied by an adult chaperone age 18 years or older and the adult may not accompany more than two youth hunters (only one of which may be mentored). The adult may not hunt.

All other regulations including hunting hours and daily bag limits, listed in the regulations pamphlet will apply.

The daily bag limit for all zones is 2 geese. In the Exterior Zone, again, a youth must purchase and possess an Exterior goose permit and must report their harvest.

Early September Canada goose season – September 14-15, with a daily bag of 5 geese.

60 Day Season – Daily bag of 6 ducks in total. Of the 6 ducks, no more than: 4 mallards of which only 1 may be a hen, 3 wood ducks, 1 black duck, 2 redheads

Ducks 3 scaup, 2 pintail, and 2 canvasback. In addition, 5 mergansers to include not more than two hooded mergansers. (For species of duck not listed such as teal and ring-necks, the combined total with all other species may not exceed 6 ducks). Coot daily bag of 15

Hello

If you know who you are mentoring, or as a hunter know who your mentor is, email me back their names.

I assign all hunts so, I will need all info from any mentor or hunter participating in our Sept. 14th and 15th hunt so I can fill out information for the DNR paperwork.

If one can hunt or mentor a half day, I need to KNOW ahead of time. have to match everyone's availability.

There is Football and other things that can get in the way of your hunt so just let me know ith exact time you will need to leave. I will let your parents know where you can be picked up and we will schedule that information with your mentor.

Much more info will come as the weeks unfold, but right now I will need info listed below from each hunter and mentor. Thank you in advance....
