Warden Wire: Public's help sought in case of illegal dumps in NW counties
Conservation wardens are asking for the public's help in solving a case involving the illegal dumping of potentially hazardous products in northwestern Wisconsin.
Sometime around September 4, various paints, coatings and solvent wastes were discovered dumped around Siren in Burnett County and Frederic in Polk County. The illegal dumping occurred on private and public lands.
In addition, illegal dumps have been discovered in remote areas around Webster and Danbury in Burnett County.
These illegally disposed of hazardous waste pose a health risk to people, wildlife and groundwater. The wastes should have been properly recycled or processed for disposal.
If you have any information related to these illegal dumps, please call the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Tip Line at 1-800-TIP-WDNR (1-800-847-9367).
