Wardens say June weekend is all free fun: ATV-UTV, fishing, trails and state parks
Want to experience a trail on an all-terrain or utility-terrain vehicle? Wonder how you'd do at fishing? Been a while since you've enjoyed a state park? Want to ride your bicycle on a state trail that's new to you? Well, the conservation wardens say try 'em all for free June 1 - 2.
On June 1 & 2, Wisconsin residents and visitors can experience a four-pack of fun activities in the great outdoors for free. That's right -- it's all free. License? Park sticker? ATV registration? No, you don't need any of those the first weekend in June. All you need is a desire to have a blast outside.
That weekend, ATV and UTV owners can ride free on both Saturday and Sunday -- June 1 and 2. This means you do not need to have your machine registered in Wisconsin. Non-resident ATV/UTV owners do not need to have a trail pass on these days. That's right -- it's a free ride on any of the hundreds of trails.
Pack a fishing rod that weekend because you also will be able to fish anywhere for free on June 1 and 2. That means you don't have to have a license. Really? Yes, really. And this includes inland trout, Great Lakes trout and salmon fishing.
Maybe you're more the trail type. The Department of Natural Resources has 42 trails all over the state. Pick one and experience it for free the entire weekend.
On Sunday only, June 2, it's free entry day at the DNR's 64 state parks and forests.
