Wardens report weekend snowmobiler fatality in Oneida County

March 24, 2013

By: Joanne M. Haas/Bureau of Law Enforcement

Marinette County snowmobile incident results in serious injury

Possible operator inexperience may have been a contributing factor in the snowmobiler fatality from a single machine incident in Oneida County Saturday night, DNR Conservation Wardens say tonight.

The Oneida crash brings to 19 the total number of snowmobiler fatalities this season.

A second single snowmobile incident in Marinette County, also on Saturday night, resulted in injuries. Officials say speed may have been a contributing factor in this incident.

The wardens say both tragic events remain under investigation, and urge all snowmobile enthusiasts to ride with safety as their top priority. Ride sober, keep your speeds down and stay on designated trails and routes.
