Hunters Endorse Walker
May 9th, 2012 – MADISON – Key members of Wisconsin’s Hunters Rights Coalition today endorsed Governor Scott Walker for reelection this June 5th.
The Wisconsin Bear Hunters Association (WBHA), the state political committee for Wisconsin’s Chapters of Safari Club International (SCI), Wisconsin FORCE – the chartered state NRA chapter, Whitetails of Wisconsin, and the NRA have all endorsed Walker as the strongest advocate for hunting, gun rights, and conservation that this state has seen for many years.
“Governor Walker has been incredible for hunters in his first year and a half in office,” said Joe Koback, chairman of SCI’s state political committee. “He got rid of earn a buck, brought in Dr. Kroll to clean up the DNR mess, got rid of outdated gun case regulation, and appointed good pro-hunting people to DNR leadership.”
WBHA President Al Lobner agreed. “Walker signed into law the Bear Bill which Governor Doyle had vetoed. His administration has been 100% in favor of delisting wolves, and he recently signed Wisconsin’s first modern wolf hunting season bill. He also made sure that stewardship land purchases are open to hunting, fishing, and trapping.”
“He is the most pro Second Amendment Governor we have had in my lifetime,” said Wisconsin FORCE President Jeff Nass. “He not only signed a strong concealed carry bill into law, but he also supported and signed the castle doctrine, helping Wisconsinites feel safe in their homes.”
Whitetails of Wisconsin President Laurie Seale added, “Scott Walker has introduced a common sense approach to regulation of our industry and hasn’t panicked over CWD. We strongly support his reelection.”
Lobner added, “Governor Walker also signed an historic wetlands bill which will guarantee the creation of many acres of high quality, huntable, wetlands over the next decade.”
“Wisconsin hunters should know that they will not find a better friend for our hunting heritage than Governor Scott Walker,” said Koback.
