Warden Lundin and the masked babies: Or, the case of the two pop cans

Wisconsin DNR Warden Andy LundinBy: Joanne M. Haas/Bureau of Law Enforcement

Conservation Warden Andy Lundin was on the outdoor beat the other day when he spotted a couple of siblings hanging out on the roadside.

And here's the rest of the story from Warden Lundin:

"I found these two little ones sitting on top of each other where the blacktop meets the gravel watching cars go by in the middle of the afternoon… So they would be able to enjoy another day, I stopped to persuade them back into the woods.

Racoon babies

"The one farthest from the camera turned and ran. The other one stood up, arched its back and tried with all its might to growl at me. But, it was more like a squeak. After a few sad attempts to scare me away, he finally decided to turn and find his sibling who had stepped just inside the woods.

"They were about the size of a pop can."
