Bow Fishing Demos

The CARP ROUNDUP will be sponsored by the FRCAUSE (Fox River Citizens Against Underwater Silt & Erosion) on June 2-3, 2018 at the boat launch North of Waterford Village Hall, 123 N River St. The Roundup is held each year on the DNR designated free fishing weekend. Carp may be taken by any legal means. That includes bow and arrow, spearing and hook and line. There are fly fishing groups who say that fly fishing for Carp is very similar to fishing for Bonefish. The hope is to encourage even those persons who don’t usually fish to help rid our river of these pests. DNR fishery managers and fishing enthusiasts consider common carp a nuisance. Carp root food from the water bottom, stirring up silt and debris and muddying the water, hindering the ability of other species of fish to feed and reproduce. Common carp also eat the eggs of other fish. In 2017 409 carp were turned in.

Fish on the Fox River and Tichigan Lake

$1.00 Bounty for each Carp (6 inch minimum length)

Paid Saturday and Sunday Noon to 5pm

Catch carp by any legal means.

Individuals as well as groups were invited to participate. Volunteers from FRCAUSE handle collection and counting of the carp.

FRCAUSE is an all-volunteer, non-profit, 501-C3 organization working to improve the quality of the Fox River and Tichigan Lake. All donations to FRCAUSE are tax deductible.
