Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources Educator Workshop and Events Update

New August Workshops & Events

August 13-152014 WAEE Annual Conference/Green & Healthy Schools Institute, UW-Stevens Point. This collaboration between the Wisconsin Association for Environmental Education and Wisconsin Green & Healthy Schools will provide an opportunity for educators, administrators, community members and buildings and grounds professionals to learn from one another, network, and gain inspiration. An EPA grant will reduce costs of this year’s conference to $75.00 for all three days, making this a very affordable opportunity for schools. This year’s conference offerings are diverse and relevant to the 21st century educator. Concurrent sessions will cover topics such as engaging students through hands-on citizen science projects, integrating STEM and STEAM into the classroom and the community, using mobile devices for teaching and learning, and how environmental education can help meet Common Core State Standards for Literacy in all subjects. Featured sessions for building and school site operations include: reducing cafeteria waste, completing a school energy audit, establishing and integrating school gardens and outdoor classrooms, and e-cycling. Round-table discussions, inspiring keynote speakers and assistance with applying to become a Green & Healthy School is available. On Friday, see some of these ideas in action through field trips. Discount Offered: With the purchase of 3 full conference registrations from your school, get one free (reimbursed after the conference). More information about the conference can be found at http://www.waee.org/annual-conference.
