Vos Fails to File Legal Challenge to Recall Petition

Union Grove, WI - June 12, 2024 - The Racine Recall Committee announces that the press conference scheduled for yesterday was to address specific legal and factual issues regarding any challenge to the petition filed by Robin Vos. The purpose was to reiterate our confidence that sufficient valid signatures were presented to certify the petition and call a recall election.

However, Speaker Vos failed to timely file an official challenge to the petition within the required 10 days. Although a challenge was submitted on his behalf by his attorney, it was not submitted in accordance with the law, rendering it null and void. This last-minute discovery caused the press conference to be canceled. Consequently, there is nothing for Racine Recall to address at this time. We look forward to the Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) certifying the petition and calling a recall election for the first Tuesday after 30 days have passed from the WEC’s acceptance of the petition as valid.

Even though we do not need to respond to Vos’s illegitimate challenge, we have reviewed his claims and can confirm that they would not have been able to drop us below the threshold. Therefore, a recall election will be held regardless.
