The numbers are in, and Wisconsin’s Deer Management Assistance Program is off to a solid start!

Wisconsin's new Deer Management Assistance Program is off to a solid start. DMAP provides habitat and herd management assistance to landowners interested in managing their property for deer and other wildlife.

As of May 30, 114 applications were received, representing 46 counties and encompassing almost 44,000 acres. Landowners are enthusiastic about the central goal of the program: healthy deer and healthy habitat. Over 90 percent of applicants listed improving habitat as a main reason for applying to DMAP.

Interested in DMAP but haven’t applied yet?

Applications will continue to be accepted at all three levels of enrollment. In 2014, properties at levels 2 and 3 will be selected for enrollment from a pool of applicants. Applicants not accepted at these levels in 2014 will be considered for enrollment in 2015.

Learn more and get involved in deer management – visit http://dnr.wi.gov and search keyword “DMAP.”
