The IGFA Annual Fishing Contest Continues Through September 1, 2018
DANIA BEACH, Fla. – May 1, 2018 – Anglers everywhere are encouraged to capitalize on the upcoming prime fishing periods around the world and compete for over 200 prizes in The International Game Fish Association’s Annual Fishing Contest, which concludes September 1, 2018.
Since the contest began on October 1, 2017, dozens of entries have been accepted as category leaders across the 74 designated species and three categories: conventional tackle, fly and junior. Many of these entries have been featured on IGFA’s social channels over the past few months. With four months remaining to enter, many of the categories remain extremely competitive with some of the best fishing for many desired species around the globe yet to come.
“The next few months are some of the best times to catch big fish in your local waters and compete directly with anglers from all over the world,” said IGFA President Nehl Horton. “Anglers should take time to understand the simple steps needed to enter their catch in the IGFA Annual Fishing Contest. The prizes from our sponsors and partners are incredible, as is the chance to be recognized by fishing enthusiasts from every end of the earth.”
The largest fish of each designated species caught during the contest will win prizes from IGFA partners Costa sunglasses and YETI. In addition to category prizes, there will also continue to be monthly drawings for fishing gear from YETI, Costa, Halco, Van Staal, Rapala and Mustad. The Annual Fishing Contest will culminate with three “Fishing Trips of a Lifetime” drawings for each of the three categories. Each winning species will earn an entry into the drawings
The three “Fishing Trips of a Lifetime” are trips for two to iconic fishing destinations including the Tropic Star Lodge in Panama, the Zancudo Lodge in Costa Rica and Miminiska Lodge in Ontario, Canada.
The Annual Fishing Contest began October 1, 2017, and concludes September 1, 2018. All catches must be made in accordance with IGFA Rules, which are available atwww.igfa.org/Fish/INTERNATIONAL-ANGLING-RULES.aspx. The IGFA strongly promotes catch and release of all fish entered in the contest, where possible.
