DISCOVER THE WONDERS OF NATURE IN THE NORTHWOODS
AT TREES FOR TOMORROW THIS SUMMER
EAGLE RIVER, WI – Trees For Tomorrow (TFT), an accredited natural resources specialty school in Eagle River, Wisconsin is offering its summer program series for 2018, and there’s something exciting for all ages. TFT summer programs offer fun and unique experiences for the public with an opportunity to explore the Northwoods, discover new interests, and meet new friends.
“This year, Trees For Tomorrow is offering more programs that ever on various environmental topics tailored for children and adults alike,” said Melanie Stewart-Clarke, Trees For Tomorrow summer program coordinator. “Our programs allow participants of all ages to meet new friends and learn about natural resources while having fun.”
Programs begin June 19th and continue through August 9th, and are held on the Trees For Tomorrow campus.
The summer program line-up includes:
Evening Lecture Series, Tuesdays, 7-8:00 p.m., geared for older children and adults. Local experts will spend an hour presenting on a variety of nature-themed topics including pollinators, Northwood’s weather, elk, trout, river otters, and how we can restore our shorelines. A special, nature-themed yoga session will be held on the Wisconsin River at 6:30 p.m. July 24. The lecture series is held in the air-conditioned Education Hall (except for yoga). The cost is free, thanks to a sponsorship from BMO Harris Bank. Suggested donation is $2/person. Pre-registration is not required.
Family Nature Programs, Wednesdays, 10:30-11:30 a.m., newly designed for families with children or grand-children of all ages. Families will spend the morning exploring the Northwoods together through hands-on activities, fun games, nature-inspired art projects, and meeting live animals. Cost is $4/person or $10/family (up to four members). Minimum of one adult for every three child participants. Pre-registration is not required.
Junior Science & Earth Exploration for Kids (S.E.E.K.), Tuesdays, 9:30-11:30 a.m., designed for kids ages 4-7, Junior S.E.E.K. invites young children to explore the wonders of nature through hands-on activities, crafts and games. Topics include animals, birds, forestry, and weather patterns. On July 24, students will have an opportunity to meet Trees For Tomorrow’s red-tailed hawk, Apollo. Cost is $8/child. Pre-registration at least 48 hours in advance is required.
“Junior S.E.E.K. is new this year, and we’re very excited to offer programs tailored specifically for young children,” said Stewart-Clarke.
Science & Earth Exploration for Kids (S.E.E.K.), Thursdays. 8:30 a.m.-4:00 p.m. (full day); 8:30 a.m.-noon (half day); or 12:30-4 p.m. (half day). Designed for kids ages 8-12, S.E.E.K. will dive into a different topic, including hiking, canoeing, survival skills, hands-on experiments, navigating through the forest, and more. Cost is $35/child for the full day or $20/child for a half day. Pre-registration at least 48 hours in advance is required.
