Contact(s): DNRPress@wisconsin.gov or 608-266-3143
March 18, 2020 at 6:08:43 pm

MADISON, Wis. - In light of COVID-19, the Wisconsin Natural Resources Board meeting scheduled for April 7-8 is canceled.

Recent guidelines from the Department of Health Services (DHS) recommend canceling or postponing gatherings of 10 people or more to help protect Wisconsinites from the spread of COVID-19.

The Board will convene for a special meeting via teleconference at 8 a.m. on April 1, 2020 to consider two items:

  1. Emergency Board Order WM-30-E, proposed rules affecting NR 10 related to establishing the migratory bird season framework and regulations
  2. Department recommendations for the FY 2021 Laboratory Certification and Registration Program Fee Adjustment.

The April NRB Special meeting agenda and additional information on the special meeting are available on the NRB web page. The next regular Board meeting is currently scheduled for May 26-27, 2020.

People should follow simple steps to prevent illness and avoid exposure to this virus including:

  • Avoid social gatherings with people of all ages (including playdates and sleepovers, parties, large family dinners, visitors in your home, non-essential workers in your house);
  • Frequent and thorough hand washing with soap and water;
  • Covering coughs and sneezes;
  • Avoiding touching your face;
  • Staying home when sick.

This is a rapidly evolving situation and we encourage you and the public to monitor the DHS website for updates frequently, and to follow @DHSWI on Facebook and Twitter, or dhs.wi on Instagram. Additional information can be found on the CDC website.
