Special June Migratory Game Bird Public Meetings
June 2, 3, 4 & 5 – Public hearings will be held to gather public input on a special experimental early teal hunting season to begin for the first time in September 2014. The US Fish and Wildlife Service will be offering the state of Wisconsin a new duck hunting season, called an early teal season, beginning in 2014. This hunting season will be offered in addition to the regular 60 day duck hunting season and must be held in September. The Department has been discussing this season with duck hunters in regular meetings over the last year and based on this preliminary input a season proposal to include season length, timing and daily bag limits for this new duck hunting season will be presented and input taken regarding these season parameters. Also, discussion will take place on additional 20 days of mourning dove hunting. Results of the hearings will be presented to the Natural Resources Board on June 25 for a final decision.
