Register now for Oct 27-29 bird conference in Wausau

A few weeks from now, bird lovers around the state will gather near Wausau for a unique and spectacular conference exploring the major threats facing birds and the important role of the arts in conservation efforts. The event marks the 2016 annual meeting of the Wisconsin Bird Conservation Initiative and will be held Oct 27-29 at the Stoney Creek Inn and Conference Center in Rothschild.

Today, October 11, marks the registration deadline to be guaranteed meals, though walk-ins will be welcomed at the door. Conference registration and program details can be found at http://wisconsinbirds.org/annualmeeting2016.htm.

Nationally-renowned birder, author, and artist Kenn Kaufmann headlines a star-studded lineup of speakers, while an evening reception hosted by the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum will offer attendees a private viewing of their 41st annual Birds in Art exhibition. Participants can also enjoy live raptors from Marge Gibson's Raptor Education Group Inc., and learn how to bring the popular Bird City Wisconsin program to their community. And did we mention the presentations on native plantscaping for birds, reducing window collisions, the power of bird photography, and teaching conservation through art?

If you like birds, this conference is not to be missed! So please join us for the fall colors, some great bird art, and inspiring discussions on making the world around us a safer, better one for birds. Register today!
