Plucky Wisconsin bird beats the odds
A Kirtland’s warbler hatched in Wisconsin last summer and weighing less than half an ounce beat the odds to make a 1,500-mile journey to the Bahamas, where it was identified earlier this week, a feat itself likened to finding a needle in a haystack. Now, biologists are hoping it makes the return trip to Wisconsin and can boost efforts to establish a breeding population of the federally and state endangered bird. Read more…
