Summer has come and gone quicker than anyone could have imagined. The skies were blue and the fishing was rewarding. Here's a brief summer re-cap, as well as, highlights of the newest and greatest innovations coming from Okuma and Savage Gear!

SCOTT MARTIN FINISHES TOP 10 AT THE 2017 FORREST WOOD CUP!

Okuma Pro Scott Martin of Clewiston, Florida took to Lake Murray from August 11th- August 13th to compete in the 2017 Forrest Wood Cup. As a former Forrest Cup Champion, Martin was mentally and physically prepared to dominate the summer-tough Lake Murray.

Prior to the event Scott Martin stated, “I need to locate as many brush piles as I can. I need to try to find some schooling fish, go into creeks and coves that I have never went into before and see if I can find some shallow fish, good shoreline grass, shade, and logs.”

At the end of Day 1 Martin tallied up a total of 15-14, nailing at least one 5-lb lunker, working his way into the top 5. By the end of Day 2, Martin weighed-in a balanced total of 16-0, pushing his cumulative to a 31.14 lbs. By the end of day 3, Martin weighed-in a  total of 9-6, ending his three days on Lake Murray with a final cumalative total of 41-4.

Finishing in solid 8th place, Martin caught a total of 14 bass tallying 41 lbs 4 oz., taking home $22,000, and securing his 7th Top-10 Forrest Wood Cup appearance. GREAT JOB SCOTT!
MATT AREY FINISHES 14TH AT THE 2017 FORREST WOOD CUP!
Photo: Couresty of FLW LLC
Okuma Pro Matt Arey of Shelby, North Carolina took to Lake Murray from August 11th- August 13th to compete in the 2017 Forrest Wood Cup. Winning the Forrest Wood Cup as co-angler in 2006, Arey was ready and eager for another shot at triumph. With prior knowledge of the lake and it's close proximity to his home-town, Arey had a strong advantage over many anglers.

At the end of day 1 Arey stated, "Last time we were here in 2014, 13 1/2 lbs a day walked away with this thing, but [that's] not gonna be the case this time. I am looking forward to getting back out there tomorrow. Just gotta get my timing down right, rotation down right, and I gotta execute on every bite that I get."

Finishing in 14th place, Arey caught a total of 10 bass tallying 25 lbs 0 oz., taking home $15,000! GREAT JOB MATT!
