Black, minority Trump supporters censored by Gannett, other media at 2020 RNC Convention. Expect the same as Milwaukee hosts 2024 RNC Convention. Look back four years Wisconsin, to compare and contrast Gannett’s corrupt coverage of the 2020 Republican and Democratic National Conventions to know what to expect July 15-18 when the nation’s eyes rest on Milwaukee, home of the 2024 RNC convention.  The DNC will showcase its conventi...

Natural Resources Board approves expanded lease for Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest property

MADISON - A proposed amendment to the master plan of the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest that allows the exclusive use of an additional 225 acres to provide accessible trails and hunting opportunities for veterans at the Camp American Legion property located in Lake Tomahawk, Oneida County was approved by the state Natural Resources Board at the June 24 meeting in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

The updated lease expands Camp American Legion property to a total of approximately 300 acres, which is at the same area and acres as the previous lease from 1944 to 1964. Under the former and revised lease those lands would be for the exclusive use of the American Legion and closed to the general public.

Camp American Legion was established in 1925 as a restoration camp for sick and disabled veterans of World War I and their dependents. Today the camp serves veterans of all wars, as well as active-duty service members, and their families, who have documented physical or psychological illness, injury, or disability.

Since 1964 the DNR leased to the American Legion approximately 75 acres surrounding the camp buildings.

More information about the Northern Highland-American Legion State Forest is available by searching the DNR website, dnr.wi.gov, for keywords "Northern Highland."
