Let's Ride in Wisconsin - Forest County Tour- June 10th

Let's Ride in Wisconsin #2

Our first guided ride was May 20th in Forest County. By all accounts, a fun day with new friends and experiences for all.

The second installment of our "Let's Ride in Wisconsin" is slated for Saturday, June 10th. Admittedly, this second installment is a bit more complex, in that there are two different starting points.

Starting option #1 is located in New London, with a departure time of 7:00 AM. That gathering location is 1919 N. Shawano Street (parking lot) in New London. This portion of the Let's Ride in Wisconsin will be on all road routes, taking the riders to the trail system in Oconto County.

Starting point option #2, for those riders looking for a shorter trip and starting a bit later, riding mostly trails, will be the parking area in Gillett, named Zippel Park, located right off West Main Street. We expect the first group to arrive at the Gillett location between 9:30 and 10:00 AM.

Upon arrival from New London (starting point #1), this first group will meet the other riders (group #2) at the Gillett parking area in Zippel Park. The second starting point group will leave a little later, somewhere between 9:30 and 10:00 estimated with a shorter guided ride. Both groups will end up at Animals Bear Trail outside of Mountain for lunch .

There will be trail ambassadors stationed and welcoming riders who choose to depart from Gillett versus New London.

Registration is free but required. There is a choice to participate in the scavenger hunt ($20), with a payout of 3 places, awarded at Animals Bear Trail.

Please join us, it will be a fun day no matter which part of the ride you choose to take. The link is below.

Do you ride in the same area because you aren't comfortable riding by yourself or unsure where you are or aren't supposed to be? Are you a snowmobiler and just dipped your toes into the summer side of the trails?

We are proud to partner with the New London ATV Club to host their very first "Let's Ride In Wisconsin" event. Let's Ride in Wisconsin is all about getting new and experienced riders involved in the sport in a fun, relaxed atmosphere while learning a little about what it takes to make the trails happen, a few laws and ethics while on the trail, and making some new friends along the way!

On Saturday, June 10, join the New London ATV Club, along with some members of the Trail Ambassador program and DNR Safety Instructors, on a guided tour through some of our finest trails and routes in the region.

Come and learn more about the sport, our organizations, our beautiful area, some of the basic rules and ethics of trail riding and meet some new friends along the way. We'd love to have you!

Prepare for this ride and EVERY ride:

  • Make sure your machine is fueled up before we leave

  • State law states that anyone under the age of 18 is required to have a DOT helmet.

  • Be on time and ready to ride!

  • Machines must be registered and have license plate or non-resident trail pass if not registered in Wisconsin.

  • Anyone born on or after January 1st, 1988 must have a valid DNR ATV Safety Certificate with them

  • Machine's should be mechanically sound prior to departing New London or Gillett

This ride and event will have two different options for joining the ride. The ride will use checkpoints instead of using bar stops.

Stage 1 option will be starting and road riding from New London to Gillett.

Stage 2 option will be meeting the first group when they arrive in Gillett, then joining that ride to the Lakewood area, ending up with a group meetup at Animal’s Bear Trail (bar & grill) in the Mountain area.

Riders have the choice of starting the ride in Gillett if you'd rather skip the route tour from New London to Gillett. There will be multiple groups of riders based upon the rider’s preference.

Some riders might want to drive faster and some slower. We want these riders to feel like they are riding with like style riders.

This will be a perfect time to meet some of the leadership of the participating WATVA clubs. Riders will have the opportunity to join other clubs and show support for the clubs that groom the trails and/or guide ride events like this one.

During the ride, there is an opportunity to participate in a scavenger hunt using GPS. There is no cost for the guided ride but there is an option to participate in the scavenger hunt for a $20 per person entry.

There is a cash prize at the end that will be drawn for all that entered (three prizes will be drawn). There are four checkpoints with our trail ambassador teams, there are also four hidden spots that you must take a selfie in front of, proving you found "the spot"!

The ride on routes from New London to Gillett starts early, 7:00 AM departure time. It's estimated the New London riders will arrive in Gillett at Zippel Park between 9:45 and 10:15 AM. We'll have a trail ambassador crew meet you at the Gillett location until the New London riders arrive.
