Karner blue butterfly training postponed to July 18 in Black River Falls; get trained and then enjoy the city’s festival
The Black River Falls training for volunteers who will help count Karner blue butterflies has been postponed until Saturday, July 18, at 10:30 a.m. at the Black River Falls Public Library, 222 Filmore St.
The re-scheduling will allow volunteers to get trained and then enjoy the Karner Blue Butterfly Festival in Black River Falls. Attendees at Saturday’s festival can visit the "Butterfly Learning Center" downtown and the butterfly's habitat sites. There’s also a 5K-10K-Half-Marathon run, a grand parade, artists and crafters, historical museum tours and more.
Volunteers participating in the training will learn about, and receive handouts on, the Karner life cycle, wild blue lupine, nectar plants, Karner blue butterflies and how to distinguish them from other blue butterflies.
