JWL Global, James Lindenberg purchases storied Club 400 Club
The Club 400 Bar and Grill located at 322 Williams Street in Waukesha was sold on Friday, October 6th. Dan (Pokey) Pokwinski sold the club to JWL Global, owned and managed by James W. Lindenberg. Pokwinski has been the owner of the club since 1981. The Club 400 is rich with history. The site was first established in 1894 as the Northwestern Hotel and later operated as a boarding house, cigar store, and soda shop. In 1948 George and Ralph Polsfuss, the father and brother of Waukesha guitar pioneer Les Paul, opened the nightclub Club 400 after major renovations. The Club itself is named after the Chicago Northwestern Locomotive #400 which used to stop across the street around 4:00pm daily. Les Paul played at The Club 400 back in the 1940’s and 50’s. Throughout the years the bar has opened its doors to many musicians including Bruce Springsteen. Pokwinski said he preferred a buyer who would preserve the history of the almost 70 year old establishment. He has found that in James W. Lindenberg, a local Waukesha resident. James said he deeply respects the history of the club and the City of Waukesha and looks forward to all feedback on how to improve the experience at The Club 400. All booked reservations, softball teams, and dart leagues will continue to be honored. The Club 400 is open 7 days a week and is known for their friendly atmosphere, burgers, and award-winning chicken wings.
