Boost for EFTTEX as Rapala confirms attendance in Amsterdam

 

Rapala has confirmed that it will be exhibiting at this year’s EFTTEX, but Westin, the Danish tackle company, has announced that it will not be at the European trade’s showcase event in Amsterdam. Rapala’s decision to attend is good news for the event following the decisions of Shimano, Zebco Europe and Leeda not to rebook. With Pure Fishing and Daiwa also attending, it means that three of the world’s ‘big four’ will be at the show. The giant lure manufacturer had deferred its decision to be in Amsterdam, but told Angling International this week, ‘we will be there’.

Shimano restructures European business operation

 

Shimano has announced a major restructure of its business in Europe aimed at consolidating and simplifying its operations. The three companies – Shimano Europe B.V., Shimano Europe Fishing Holding B.V. and bikefitting.com B.V. – have been merged into Shimano Europe Holding B.V., which has been renamed Shimano Europe B.V.

$10m earmarked for Cabela’s redundancies by Bass Pro

 

Cabela’s employees have been given a clearer indication of their future and that of the company’s Sidney, Nebraska headquarters by its new owner, Johnny Morris, Bass Pro Shops’ Chief Executive (pictured). In a letter to all employees, Morris reveals that $10 million has been earmarked for severance payments to staff who will lose their jobs. While not saying how many positions will be cut in the city, where Cabela’s employs 2,000 of its 6,800 population, Morris has detailed some of the operations that will stay following Bass Pro’s $5 billion acquisition earlier this year.

Hardy helps raise over £70,000 for Atlantic salmon conservation

 

Iconic Pure Fishing brand Hardy has helped raise more than £70,000 for the conservation of Atlantic salmon. The English-based company produced a limited edition series of 148 Hotspur Cascapedia reels to support the efforts of two charities, the Atlantic Salmon Trust (AST) and Salmon & Trout Conservation UK (STC UK), raising £45,000. The original 001 model, which was presented to AST patron, the Prince of Wales, was auctioned in May last year, for a record £55,000.
