Horicon Marsh photography contest underway
HORICON, Wis. - The Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center is happy to
announce the kick-off of a 2016-2017 photography

This year's the photo contest will be better than ever, with more time to
take photos, more categories, and more prizes. Photographers are invited to
explore the Horicon Marsh and all of the beauty it has to offer and be
creative with a phone camera, point-and-shoot camera, or digital camera.
This photo contest is open to anyone with a passion for Horicon Marsh. While
exploring the marsh, please follow all posted closing times, regulations and
closed areas.
The 2016-17 photo contest will run quarterly:
* Spring Snapshots, April 1 to May 31 - Spring is a perfect
opportunity to get back out in nature after the long, cold winter. Colors
are vibrant and opportunities to photograph emerging wildflowers and
migrating birds are endless. Please submit your photos by May 31, 2016 to

* Summer Splendors, June 1 to Aug. 31 - Don't let the heat keep
you away! Use the long days and excellent lighting to your favor. Look for
(but don't harass) nesting birds, active insects or prairie blooms. Please

* Fall Features, Sept. 1 to Nov. 30 - Fall migration, vibrant
sunsets, and colors of gold provide the perfect opportunity to take a
picture. Use this opportunity to enhance your motion photography skills.

* Winter Wonders, Dec. 1, 2016 to Feb. 28, 2017 - Why let winter

At Horicon National Wildlife Refuge, photographers are asked to please stay
on established hiking and bicycle trails and other open visitor service
