This open house is an annual fundraising event to support the Friends of Sandhill, a 501(c)3 organization that provides support for Sandhill Wildlife Area and its visitors through interpretive, educational, and visitor service programs.

"The Friends of Sandhill are the primary drivers of our outdoor education program at Sandhill Wildlife Area," stated Marc Kenyon, DNR area wildlife supervisor. "We truly appreciate their long-standing support of educational programs geared toward outdoor skills and ethics - our next generation of conservationists depends on support from Friends groups."

This year's event will showcase weather, climate and Wisconsin wildlife through a series of hands-on activities while also giving an overview of Sandhill Wildlife Area's importance to the animals who call it home. Attendees can take part in property tours, demonstrations, children's activities and more. Refreshments will be provided and attendees area encouraged to stop by the Nature Store. Admission is free and open to the public.

The Sandhill Wildlife Area is located in southwestern Wood County, approximately 25 miles south of Marshfield and 17 miles west of Wisconsin Rapids. The property headquarters and visitor's entrance is one mile west of Babcock on County Highway X. The headquarters' address is 1715 County Highway X, Babcock. Sandhill is just one of many state wildlife areas located throughout Wisconsin owned and managed by the Department of Natural Resources.
