Gypsy Moth Spray Update

Gypsy moth spray season is expected to start within the next two weeks but is weather dependant. We will send another email as soon as we have more details.

Spray locations

To view detailed maps of the aerial spray treatment areas or learn more about aerial spraying for gypsy moth, visit the Wisconsin Cooperative Gypsy Moth website at: http://gypsymoth.wi.gov.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture’s Slow the Spread Program will spray areas within the following 18 counties in 2014:

Barron, Bayfield, Chippewa, Crawford, Douglas, Dunn, Eau Claire, Grant, Green, Iowa, Jackson, La Crosse, Lafayette, Polk, Richland, Rusk, Sawyer and Trempealeau.

DNR’s Suppression Program will spray only one treatment area this year, in Rock County.

Please remember: spray planes fly low and are loud. Spraying may begin as early as dawn and will continue through the day as long as weather conditions are favorable.

More information

First, visit http://gypsymoth.wi.gov. Many questions are answered with information on that website.

If you have a question and would like to talk with gypsy moth program staff, please call the Gypsy Moth Information Line at 1-800-642-6684. Option # 2 will direct you to DNR staff available from 7:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m., 7 days a week.  Option # 3 will connect you with the Department of Agriculture's Slow the Spread Program staff during regular business hours or you can leave a message.

You can also email dnrfrgypsymoth@wisconsin.gov.  It may take a few days for your email to be answered.
