Great Lakes Week 2013: Good grant news and northern pike habitat restoration on Green Bay

If you missed live coverage earlier this week on low water levels in the Great Lakes or the Waukesha water withdrawal proposal, go to our featured web page on Great Lakes Week and click on the “sessions” tab in the video player. Check out the features too.

Hot off the presses!

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has just announced that it has awarded DNR a $1.5 million Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Grant to help continue cleanup work in the Milwaukee Estuary and other projects.

Green Bay and Lower Fox River in the spotlight

A number of sessions today at the Great Lakes Week conferences take a look at projects to improve water quality and habitat and clean up contaminated sediments in lower Green Bay and the Fox River.

Read about how cleanups are helping heal the bay.

Watch our video about a partnership that is restoring habitat for northern pike to make sure they aren’t left high and dry on their spawning runs.

Enjoy this photo of a beautiful northern pike that’s benefitted from the habitat restoration projects.
