Forest Fest...Free Family Fun Day Celebrating Logging Industry
EAGLE RIVER, Wis. – Trees For Tomorrow (TFT), an accredited natural resources specialty school in Eagle River, WI invites the public to celebrate Wisconsin’s forests at their annual Forest Fest event on Saturday, July 29, 2017. This is a free family fun day that takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 pm. on the Trees For Tomorrow campus in the heart of Eagle River.
Learn about the ecology of our forests and see how the modern forestry industry helps to sustain them with equipment demos. Tour an interactive native village, take a horse-drawn wagon ride, fish for live trout, try your hand at papermaking and crosscut sawing, see if you can light a match with a hatchet and meet the forest’s spokesperson Smokey Bear.
“Forest Fest is our way of giving back to the community,” said Robin Ginner, TFT Executive Director. “Our program lineup is designed to provide an educational experience for all ages that touches on all of the products we enjoy and rely on that come from the forest.”
The day begins at 8 a.m. with a lumberjack breakfast and festivities starting at 9 a.m.including exhibits from forestry and logging leaders and professionals, handcrafted products by artisans and crafters, and hands-on activities and information from local businesses, organizations and associations. Presentations are scheduled throughout the day on a variety of topics live birds of prey, wolves in Wisconsin and Wisconsin’s logging history.
A hearty lumberjack breakfast of pancakes, sausage, biscuits, fruit and coffee is available for just $8 from 8-10 a.m. in the historic dining hall. Lunch is served from 11 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.with a selection of fresh-grilled brats, burgers or hot dogs, baked beans, chips and fresh watermelon slices. Live music by I Go North, Gary Hernandez and Memo begins in the big tent at 11 a.m.
Forest Fest is free to the public with suggested donations of $5/person, $20/family. Please leave pets at home for the day.
