Fall events at Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center

HORICON, Wis. -Migration is in full swing and both birds visitors are
flocking to Horicon Marsh. Visit the Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor
Center's new

> or join DNR staff and local organizations for upcoming fall activities.
Each October event is free unless otherwise noted and does not require
advance registration.

*         Oct. 17, 4:30 -6:30 p.m. -  Crane Watch and Stargazing

Join educators at the Palmatory Street Overlook an hour before sunset for an
informative talk regarding the birds flying overhead. Watch for Sandhill
Cranes, ducks, geese and other migrants that are flying back into the marsh
to roost. While waiting, members of the Northern Cross Science Foundation
will be on hand to conduct solar viewing and stargaze after the sun goes
down. Bring a picnic dinner, chairs and warm clothes for a fun-filled night
at Horicon Marsh. This event will be held at 1210 N. Palmatory Street,
Horicon, Wis.

*         Oct. 24, 10 -11 a.m. -  Muskrats, Mink and other Marsh Mammals

Join DNR educators for a hands-on presentation about the different
furbearers that call the marsh home. Learn about those little huts that are
constructed on the marsh and who makes them, and find out which mammal can
hear a mouse moving under the snow.

*         Oct. 31, 6:30 -8:30 p.m. -  Special Halloween Movies at the Marsh

The Movies at the Marsh series continues with a special screening of "The
Adventures of Ichabod and Mr. Toad," a family-friendly movie. Those who show
up for the movie in their Halloween costume will receive a free bag of
popcorn.  Don't miss this opportunity to see your favorite movies on the big
screen. All movies are family-friendly (rated G or PG), free, and open to
the public. Refreshments are available. Please use the lower entrance.
