December events at Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center

HORICON, Wis. - The first snowflakes have arrived, and excitement will continue throughout the winter at Horicon Marsh. Visit Horicon Marsh Education and Visitor Center's new Explorium<http://dnr.wi.gov/topic/lands/wildlifeareas/horicon/education.html> or join DNR staff and local organizations for some great December events.

Each December event is free unless otherwise noted and does not require advance registration.

* Bats LIVE! - Dec. 36:30-7:30 p.m.

Bats are amazing animals, and make up 20 percent of the world's mammal diversity. Wisconsin is home to seven of these species, and Neda Mine State Natural Area hosts the largest remaining population of little brown bats east of the Mississippi. Join Jennifer Redell, conservation biologist with the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources' Bat Program, for an hour devoted to nightlife! Learn about bats in your backyard and the Wisconsin Bat Program, virtually explore Neda Mine from the comfort of your chair, and hear about the latest findings on White-nose Syndrome and learn what you can do to help.

* Movies at the Marsh - Dec. 56:30-8p.m.

The Movies at the Marsh series continues Dec. 5 with "The Sword and the Stone," a family-friendly movie. This Disney adaptation of the classic fable chronicles King Arthur's humble beginnings. All movies are family-friendly (rated G or PG), free and open to the public. Refreshments are available. Please use the lower entrance.
