Black, minority Trump supporters censored by Gannett, other media at 2020 RNC Convention. Expect the same as Milwaukee hosts 2024 RNC Convention. Look back four years Wisconsin, to compare and contrast Gannett’s corrupt coverage of the 2020 Republican and Democratic National Conventions to know what to expect July 15-18 when the nation’s eyes rest on Milwaukee, home of the 2024 RNC convention.  The DNC will showcase its conventi...

DNR invites public feedback on habitat improvements for Tichigan Wildlife Area

http://dnr.wi.gov/news/releases/article/?id=4233

RACINE, Wis. - The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is inviting public discussion of a proposed fisheries project for Tichigan Creek, a class III trout stream in Racine County, as well as updated management plans for Tichigan Wildlife Area.

A public meeting on the proposals will be held May 8 at 6:30 p.m. at Captain Missy's, 8330 Fox River Road, Waterford, Wis. 53185. Comments and suggestions from the meeting will be used to further inform a master planning process now underway for the property.

Luke Roffler, DNR fisheries biologist, will outline a proposal for stream restoration work on Tichigan Creek to maintain conditions suitable for a diverse coldwater fisheries community, which would include stocking of native brook trout. To move forward with the project, an 8 acre flowage and a smaller 2 acre flowage east of Marsh Road on the south side of the property would have to be drained.

Marty Johnson, DNR wildlife biologist, will engage with stakeholders on management of the waterfowl refuge in two areas within the Tichigan Wildlife Area. The first effort involves a potential rule to close a portion of the refuge to all entry during the migratory season and open it to entry after the migratory season ends. The intent is to prevent visitors from entering the refuge during hunting season and disturbing birds using the refuge.

The wildlife portion of the meeting also will cover the wet soil management program conducted in the refuge (planting of millet and flooding flowage). The discussion will focus on options to continue the program in the future.
