DNR WC Secretary's Director selected to be chairman of Mississippi River association

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. – Dan Baumann, Department of Natural Resources West Central Secretary’s Director, has been selected as The Upper Mississippi River Basin Association chairman for 2015.

“I look forward to representing Wisconsin on the Upper Mississippi River Basin Association board as the Chairman for 2015.  This association is made up of highly skilled professionals from our state and federal partners,” Baumann said.

“Together with the great staff at UMRBA, we represent our governors’ offices on navigation, ecosystem restoration, water quality and a host of important issues that impact our states and the Upper Mississippi River.  I look forward to a challenging year,” Baumann added.

The association is a regional interstate organization formed by the governors of Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Missouri, and Wisconsin to coordinate the states' river-related programs and policies and work with federal agencies that have river responsibilities.

The association is involved with programs related to commercial navigation, ecosystem restoration, water quality, aquatic nuisance species, hazardous spills, flood risk management, water supply, and other water resource issues.
