Civic Duty and Accountability at Glendale, Wisconsin Election Facility
Racine, WI - On the morning of July 2, 2024, Jim Spodick, Peter Bernegger (ElectionWatch.info), and Harry Wait were present at the Glendale facility located at 5909 N. Milwaukee River Rd, Glendale, WI, to ensure the integrity of the election process being conducted by our civil servants.
Arriving at 7 am, the intent was to observe and confirm that all electoral procedures were carried out legally and correctly. During our time there, only one absentee ballot was opened, which Peter Bernegger legally challenged. Following this challenge, the chief election official instructed poll workers to cease opening absentee ballots.
Subsequently, crews arrived to lay down boundary tape, and the election official proceeded to print poll observer stickers and sign-in sheets. Despite our compliance and patience, the election inspector labeled us disruptive and involved law enforcement.
Throughout the several hours that followed, we maintained a cordial atmosphere, engaging in polite conversation with the poll workers and calmly waiting for the ballot opening process to resume. During this period, five police officers were present in the adjoining room, although they remained silent when questioned about their presence.
We have requested video footage of the polling area to confirm our peaceful and patient demeanor. Additionally, a Wisconsin Public Records Request will verify that we spent several hours at the polling facility without incident, simply awaiting the continuation of the ballot processing.
It is regrettable that the election officials' comments to the press were misguided, ill-informed, and unprofessional. Terms such as "disruptive," "despicable," and "interference" demonstrate a lack of understanding of the election process and reflect poorly on the misguided Wisconsin Elections Commission (W.E.C.).
