Central Wisconsin Outdoor Report

Another week into the 2019 Wisconsin Black Bear season and another bear down. That brings our total to 10 black bears that our hunters have successfully taken in the first two week of the season. All of our hunts are in very comfortable stands over bait and in zones “B” and “C”.  This latest bear taken by Scott Miller was our third bear so far this year that went over 300 pounds with our largest bear weighing in at a whopping 385 pounds dressed out!

On Wisconsin Outdoors

With our bear hunts taking up quite a bit of our time the fishing has taken a back seat but we did manage to get out a few times and were rewarded with some very nice fish. Water temperatures are unfortunately rising and have jumped back up to the upper 60’s and low 790’s which is not normally good at this time of the year but we were able to find some nice fish.  When fall arrives you want steady or falling water temperatures for good fishing but with warm weather and rising water temperatures the fishing generally shuts down.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

We had a few guide trips this week with Ron Hall and his wife Char and we managed to boat some nice walleyes, smallmouth bass, crappies, and pike along with quite a few nice catfish. Most of the action was on jigs tipped with fathead minnows but we also ran some slip bobbers and picked quite a few fish on them as well.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

With fall right around the corner and unfortunately winter not too far away this is a good time to start thinking about boat storage and winterization and there is no better place to go than Amherst Marine. Give Jason or Jerry a call and set up an appointment to get you boat and motor looked at and winterized and see what they have for winter storage availability.  They can be reached at 715-824-5635
