Central Wisconsin Outdoor Report

This past has been another one of many changes. We are starting to see a few guys hit the open water below area dams as well as a few brave souls still venturing out on the ice for some late ice fishing.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

The guys that are fishing the water below the dams are fishing from shore as well as getting out in some small boats and they are picking up some nice walleyes. A lot of the guys are tossing jigs tipped with minnows or twister tails but a few guys are throwing crankbaits as well.  Most of the anglers are targeting depths of 10 to 14 FOW but a few of the guys tossing crankbaits are targeting shallower water in the 4 to 8 foot depths.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

For those of you still thinking about late ice fishing conditions are pretty good.  We have been out this past week and thanks to the recent warm weather and rain the snow is just about gone leaving behind only remnants of what it was just a few days ago.  We have been catching some nice crappies and bluegills along with the occasional walleye. Remember in Wisconsin you can target walleyes year-round on some of the waters associated with the Wisconsin River and other similar locations. Check with the DNR for actual regulation if you have any questions.
