Central Wisconsin Outdoor Report

It has been another warm week but that hasn’t disrupted the fishing or the activity at our bear baiting stations in the least bit.  Fishing has been very good for walleyes and panfish, along with us catching some very nice bass and pike.  Most of the guys are catching their fish on jigs tipped with crawlers or minnows but a few guys are throwing crankbaits like Rapalas.  With the warmer water temperatures you would think that you would have to go deep to find fish but most of the fish that we have been catching have been in shallow water.

On Wisconsin Outdoors

With the 2018 bear season less than one month away, I am very happy to see the continued activity at our bear baiting stations.  We are now visiting our bait stations a little bit more frequently and with some surprises as far as bait goes.  We have several different bait presentations that we like to use throughout the season, but just before opener we start spicing the baits up with some added surprises to keep them coming in.  With changes in conditions and new hunters entering the woods varying your presentation at this time of the year is critical if you plan on keeping the bears interested in your bait station.
