Christmas Bird Count needs volunteers
The longest-running citizen science survey in the world, Audubon’s 118th annual Christmas Bird Count, occurs between Dec. 14, 2017, and Jan. 5, 2018, and volunteer birders are needed to contribute sightings from field or feeder in effort to help monitor early winter bird populations. Beginning birders will be paired with experienced birdwatchers. Find a count circle near you. Learn more about Christmas Bird Countsfrom the National Audubon Society.
Help snowy owls by donating to radio-tracking effort
Our partners in bird conservation are raising money to buy tracking devices to place on snowy owls as part of Project SNOWstorm, an international conservation effort conducting cutting-edge snowy owl research. The Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin is hoping to raise $3,000 by Dec. 20 to ensure that some of Wisconsin's snowy owls receive transmitters. All gifts are tax-deductible and will be matched up to $3,000. Learn more or make a gift.
