Beloved Yee’s Oriental Inn Re-Opens as Mr. Yee’s Oriental Inn -Now Open For Carryout-

Mr. Yee’s Oriental Inn, formerly Yee’s Oriental Inn, is now open for carryout orders.

The wait is over as long-time customers and curious new patrons of the Oriental Inn are now able to order takeout from the iconic Kenosha restaurant. The business changed hands from Willy Yee to Dino Katris and Ken Miller earlier this year. The restaurant is now named Mr. Yee’s Oriental Inn. Several members of the former restaurant staff are on the new team and can be found in the kitschy fortune cookie t-shirts that are now the staff uniform.

An extensive overhaul of the kitchen was completed over the summer months to modernize functionality and to improve efficiency. The dining room, however, holds the same charm as before. With a fresh coat of paint and new table coverings, guests will be pleased to see the famous beads and a shrine of Yee family memorabilia. Mae Yee’s old desk can be found at the heart of the restaurant, now serving as the hostess stand.

Willy Yee has been on-site over the last several months, and more extensively in recent weeks, helping to train the owners and the new staff on the traditional recipes that have been in the family for generations. Favorites like the chop suey, sub gum, sweet and sour, and of course the OG Egg Rolls are still present on the menu.

Katris and Miller plan to add some additional items as they get settled in, but the classics will remain. That includes the famous hot mustard – which has remained a staple of the restaurant. New sauces are also available including the Asian dipping sauce with sesame and ginger, and Mr. Yee’s sauce which includes Chinese Five Spice.

“It is an honor to be able to carry on the Yee Family legacy of culinary excellence in Kenosha,” said Katris. “The opening has been slow and we appreciate everyone’s patience. Our team wants to get this right.”

Dine-in service will follow in the coming weeks. Until then, the carryout menu can be found at ILoveMrYees.com and the bar is open with delicious new cocktails to enjoy while you wait for your order.
