Annual meeting registration is live and Discover Wisconsin

We have two things to share with you. First, a new Discover Wisconsin episode is airing, featuring Wisconsin County Forests. More details below.

Next, registration is now open for our April 10-12 Annual Workshops, Banquet and Meetings. New this year will be an Economic & Recreational Summit. Please share this with your friends.

When it comes to the "trail systems" that traverse through the woods and into our beautiful back country, natural resources, our county forest lands are so very important to the success of our Wisconsin Atv UTV trail networks.

The WATVA leadership team enjoys a great relationship with the Wisconsin County Forests Association (WCFA). Many of the local clubs work very close with their county foresters, which in turn provides many beautiful trail miles for us to enjoy our sport on!

Congratulations to everyone involved in bringing this episode to production!

DISCOVER WISCONSIN SHINES SPOTLIGHT ON COUNTY FORESTS IN UPCOMING EPISODE

"Wisconsin's County Forests" premieres across the Midwest Feb. 7-8

WISCONSIN - (January 26, 2015) - A handful of Wisconsin County Forests are highlighted in an upcoming episode of the nation's longest-running tourism TV show, Discover Wisconsin. Premiering Feb. 7-8, "Wisconsin's County Forests" was produced in partnership with Discover Wisconsin and Wisconsin County Forests Association.

The episode airs statewide Saturday, Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. on FSN Wisconsin and locally on WDIO TV 10 (ABC) Sunday, Feb. 8 at 5:30 p.m.

"Wisconsin County Forests offer a remarkable backdrop-not to mention a slew of recreational activities-for folks with a sense of adventure and a love for Wisconsin wildlife," said Jane Severt, executive director for Wisconsin County Forests Association. "Our mission is to maintain a productive and sustainable forest and our hope is that Discover Wisconsin's viewers will get a glimpse into the work we do day in and day out to keep our county forests healthy."

There are 2.4 million acres available for the public to explore in 29 Wisconsin counties. Covering all four seasons, the Discover Wisconsin crew filmed in Bayfield, Burnett, Florence, Juneau, Marathon, Marinette, Price, Sawyer and Washburn counties.

"Wisconsin's County Forests" is hosted by Mariah Haberman and Eric Paulsen. In northwest Wisconsin, the show features the American Birkebeiner Cross Country Ski Race in Bayfield and Sawyer counties, canoeing in Burnett County and ATVing and horseback riding in Washburn County.

Heading over to northeast Wisconsin, highlights include winter recreational opportunities at Keyes Peak and snowmobiling trails in Florence County as well as a trip to Marinette County where Haberman embarks on both birding and waterfall tours.

"I am always so surprised to learn how few people are aware of Wisconsin's many waterfalls," said Haberman. "That's proof that there is so much to discover in Wisconsin County Forests."

Paulsen discusses the role County Forests play in Wisconsin's economy with Jon Harris, Director of Forestry and Natural Resources, Douglas County. The logging industry is the second largest manufacturing industry in the state of Wisconsin.

The show's co-host also breaks a sweat on the Juneau County Omaha Trail, a classic rails-to-trails biking trail near Elroy, and later cools off at Castle Rock Park, where Castle Rock Lake serves as the recreational hub for more than 280 campsites.

Also featured in Discover Wisconsin's "Wisconsin's County Forests" episode is Marathon County's Nine Mile Trail and Timm's Hill.

"Wisconsin County Forests manages more than 65 parks with over 3,200 campsites," said A.J. Marz, producer for Discover Wisconsin. "That is an incredible undertaking. Residents and visitors alike are so fortunate to have such a great group at the helm of our state's county forests."

The program will reach more than 500,000 viewers across the upper Great Lakes region, including Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Northern Illinois and Upper Michigan.
